Never, we will just have to live with it, as long as you're vaccinated at least you won't get as sick as those that aren't.

Covid-19 is here to stay just like the flu and pnumonia. There will always be NEW variants of the Covid-19 virus, some more deadlier and some less deadly. In Australia we are told that Omicron is less deadly, however over in the UK and USA some people have died from Omicron; but we must keep in mind there is only a small percentage of people vaccinated within those countries. In Australia, in NSW for several weeks they were averaging around 200 to 350 new Covid cases each 24 hour period, suddenly they are getting over 2000 a day, then the day before yesterday they had over 3000 then yesterday close to 4000. The government is saying that by the end of January 2022 we could be averaging 200,000 a day Australia-wide ( worse than the UK and USA ). With International borders now open, all state borders now open ( except West Australia ) the Omicron is without no doubt going to spread across Australia like wild fire especially now that NSW and Victoria are not enforcing mask wearing and social distancing and NSW not enforcing use of QR codes and these states refusing to go back into lockdown to get it under control because Scott Morrison and Josh Frydenberg are more concerned about the economy. Covid-19 is a virus that continuously changes it's DNA each time it transmits to each person and continues to grow stronger and more contagious. As it changes each time it transmits from person to person, this means that countries that have higher numbers of infections each day are creating NEW strains of the Covid-19 virus. Every country needs to minimise the spread to minimise or end the risks of new strains being created. IF this is not done soon then the Covid-19 virus will become so strong that disinfectent and vaccines will NOT protect us and within 20 years the Covid-19 virus will make the human race extinct. Although the 3rd vaccine booster shot is only providing 30% protection against Omicron, we ALL need to be fully vaccinated to give us at least some protection because Governments around the world are no longer taking steps to control or contain the virus because they are now all more concerned with the economy

Well said. I live in Qld where we have had few lockdown. Now it's hitting us as soon as the border opened up.

I am glad you asked me that..........the spread of the disease depends on population density...and sadly there are a lot of dense people

Percentage of people needing to take a vaccine varies from disease to disease (depends on how contiagous a disease is - the percentage of people can go up to 94 percent of a nation - population - needed to take a vaccine for a disease) - for herd immunity to kick in. Furthermore, pharmaceutical companies refuse to lower their prices to poor countries for mass vaccines - which means alot of poor countries do not have a vaccine program for covid19. Delta and omicron started in poor countries. Covid19 does not need a passport to enter ANY country. Covid19 will not STOP till all countries on this planet can afford to vaccine its citizens - till that happens - herd immunity is not going to work - which is the only way to stop the spread of covid19!

Indeed. I'm hoping these poor nations develop a good robust immunity over time as it doesn't look like anyone apart from UNICEF is going to fork out the $$$ to get them vaccinated. The good point about their natural infections is that they will be producing antibodies which target more than just the spike protein (what vaccines target), which means they MAY have better immunity against variants versus their vaccinated counterparts. Rather ironic really.

Glad we had our Christmas early before the hoards invaded QLD. Getting our booster soon. Feeling sick just thinking about it all. By the looks the virus will keep mutating and will be around for many more years. Vaccinations maybe at least twice a year from now on in, maybe even more if it keeps going the way it has already.

Ask China where we are being overcome by a biological war. No real cost to them.

China deliberately created and released this virus on the world then they murdered the scientists ( whistle blowers ) who created it, to silence them. This is China's first step in a pending world war as this virus is to weaken the people around the world and to weaken the economy around the world, whilst China increases their income from increased sales of face masks, gowns, rubber gloves and test kits to the world and they are using that income to strengthen their defence force even further ready for world war 3

Oh and by the way, covid 19 infects animals. They say it's rare for covid to cross species - there are a lack of studies, but let's not forget where this virus came from and the number of species it has infected in the last 2 years. In conclusion, covid 19 is here to stay, will most likely continue mutating and infecting clusters of humans. In fact, some scientists suspect that omicron came from an animal due to all the wild mutations. I highly doubt they're going to invest in vaccinating all the wild animals that have covid 19. Due to all of the above we can only hope to achieve a certain LEVEL of immunity and once we all have this, that will be the end of the pandemic, otherwise known as low numbers of hospitalisations.

There has always been a coronavirus that affects animals and was around long before Covid-19; however, the vets have informed me that this virus which affects animals is a completely different strain

Indeed. There are several different strains of corona viruses. Infact, a third of all flu viruses are corona viruses which possible started off zoonotic as well much like covid 19, before jumping to the human population. The point of above text was to express that we probably can not get rid of covid 19 as some people think that we can magically rid of it from the face of the Earth and return to normal. As a result, the end of the pandemic will be once the human population collectively achieves a certain level of immunity whether through vaccine or natural infection. It's happened with other corona viruses and so I think it will happen with this one. Will just take a bit of time.

the politicians love injecting fear... and controlling the vulgar public at large. Not since World War II have the pollies had so much influence. Delta looked like it was under control. Thank heavens for omicron say presidents and prime ministers around the world.

personally i think because its a so called "smart" virus being man made it will go either one of two ways, just be like the flu every year or mutates into something that kills us off

What we know so far is that the risk of hospitalisation is less if you've gained natural immunity through infection or been vaccinated so pandemic will probably end once everyone has caught it or been vaccinated. How long does it take the whole world to gain immunity? At the same time a lot of people are gonna die in the process which is a problem for governments around the world as they don't have the infrastructure to cope (hospitals, morgues etc) so they're trying to reduce numbers of infections and push vaccinations, which is going to slow things down a bit as not everyone can be vaccinated or has access (including 10% of the entire world population who are in poverty, children under 5 and those who can't be vaccinated due to medical reasons). At the same time this is a cunning virus which rapidly mutates (especially in people who are immune compromised such as those in poor outcomes with lack of sufficient healthcare I.e. 10% of the entire world population/breeding ground for new variants) the specific area that vaccines target - the spike protein, which means current vaccines become less effective over time so we're back at square one. That's when they push the boosters and the cycle repeats.

I have been lead to believe that each new variant is a weaker version. They will, however, be more contagious but with much fewer people being hospitalised and very few succumbing to it (bearing in mind protection from vaccination and booster shots). I think if we are sensible about things we can relax a bit, enjoy Christmas and basically just get on with this new way of living ie masks on public transport and in busy places, distancing and hygiene.
