Our Medicare system in Australia is not too bad but it seems that my ills are not fully covered. Still, I am still here to comment about it. I am not complaining mind. I never complain.

I could never understand why the USA, being as rich as the country is, has the worst health system of any of the developed countries. Most countries in Europe have a better health system than the USA. Germany, in particular, has one of the best health systems in the world.

My number one issue is health. Unfortunately health is not good. Have had lung cancer and have Brittle Diabetes 1 as a result of the treatment I was on. Also have emphysema.

Walter, I hear ya. My Plan D is the highest monthly premium but, pays nothing until I have reached the deductible then, still leaves me with 30% co-pay and the dreaded doughnut hole. I’ve been unable to get meds my doctor said have no generic equivalents so I’m paying high dollar for bs coverage and my health condition is going untreated.

Too big of government, government being too controlling, and government meddling in the American people's lives way too much. That's my major issue.

Hi Walter. Didn't know this was yours til I saw you thumb upped my comment. That sucks about your medicare. It should be the other way around. You get those other benefits and your Rx's totally paid bc you worked hard and earned that money. You paid for it all al those years, now the gov screws you?

No issues I have had are harder than getting older and having to manage my health issues physically and insurance wise. I have always been a very active person and I have had to slow down considerably which is very frustrating and hard for me.

Hi Paula, I have read and heard conflicting results for that treatment? It is around $100,000 and as yet still not totally proven etc? Evidently The earlier and younger you are the better the outcome, many olde and more disabled don't seem to have an effective outcome. They take stem cells, then effectively kill the immune system, re introduce the stem cells to reboot your immune system?

i am an Australian. I was on keytruda immuneratherapy for my lung for nearly 2 years. I ended up with a side effect of my treatment Brittle Diabetes 1. The immunerathereapy has reduced my tumour. I live in Australia and we paid 2.5% of our income into Medical policy. And fortunately I have great health so Medical is not a problem..... LIARS are, And Its appears we have breed a lot of liars at the top and all the way to the bottom. Getting sick of the BS day and day out.

Walter, I share your problems and thoughts, My husband has a Level 4 Age Package, and yet we still can't claim all our Scripts, Vision, or our Specialists visits, So Like You ours problems are many, make me think that once one gets to 70 doctors or the government can't give a hoot regardless to what is required to keep us healthy, A pair of Compression Socks Zipper Knee Highs, for his Ulcer care, cost $175, because they have to be specially ordered, If his package coordinator did not step in and took it out of his care money I would not have been able to service my vehicle. Goodness Knows when it will all stop. Now there is chatter with people saying our Primeminister is looking at abolishing Medicare

Seeing a psychologist. I can't afford it. It's like $120 per appt in Queensland. That's with the government rebate Wait list is 3 months. Private health won't allow you to have the 10 sessions you get without you first using the govt rebate ones. Which allows for 12. It's very hard when paying 400 a week for sharehouse.

Like you Walter my number one issue is my health, but unlike you there are no forms for me to fill in yearly. Are you in the US? In Australia there are people on Government pensions and others like myself are self funded, which means in short I receive NOTHING from the Feds and pay for EVETYTHING myself. I have never smoked and I don't drink and my health issues are purely aged related so I find it annoying that the few medications I do need come at full price while others who have had a wonderful life and spent everything get almost everything for free. My pension fund reduced by 25% last year which was very scary because it's not as though I can earn more. I am hoping for a better year this year. I can't be a burden to my family, they have their own bills to pay and I want to be as independent as I can for as long as I can, but I know if you get anything wrong with you and are laid up it's very difficult to get going again. To make sure I keep as much like the Energizer bunny as I can I take vitamins, have a good diet and exercise, and so far so good. I haven't needed anything replaced like many of my friends have, and to my optometrists surprise I still don't require glasses although he did sell me a pair this year to help me drive at night, not that I like being out at night. Perhaps it's paying off, but I do have good genes as my mother turns 95 on Thursday and my father passed away on his 91st birthday after contracting the flu. If you don't have good health 60 million dollars can't help you, and you have to start well and start young.

Reading your issues Walter,I don't have any I am 84 & I live with follicular lymphoma .but I do basically whatever I want to do.Covid 19 has prevented travel hopefully the cruise I have booked for June will be a go ahead .That is my only issue.We have private Health cover & we do receive a part pension gratefully.We own our own home & we both enjoy life .We live in Western Australia so safe so far .I guess it depends on your lifestyle & what YOU consider a high income

My failing health and NZ s failing healthsystem

I have to agree, I suffer MS and this year it has progressed badly even with drugs, balance, mobility and constant dizziness, headaches! So health and my best mate ellie the Beagle are my primary concern or challenge!

Gosh, I wish I just had one problem in life. I have several that I would consider equally number one and then a Cascade of many after that. One of my main problems is I am a perfectionist and it makes it hard for me to just have fun with things far too often. I did get better at it for awhile, but things in life happened that made me revert back to some bad habits that I thought I got over. Actually, that's my number one problem, but I will pass on stating that one. I also tend to get depressed on occasion and don't eat well, don't care about things I should, etc. I have had issues with anorexia since I was a kid and depression brings it out. As long as I am not depressed I eat fine. It was a control issue, not a weight issue.

Health costs in Australia are rising every year and some residents are opting out of their health companies. It will not be long for health funds will find it too expensive. To provide benefits to members and there will be an exodus and people will rely on the hospitals , doctors for their medical needs

I guess we are more fortunate here. Our Medicare provides for discount on pharmaceutical and doctor's visits and certain hospital operations receive a discounted fee. This is similar to what the UK provides for its older citizens called NHS. Since I retired this has shrunk but it's certainly better than the "user pays" that dominates the American form of 'health care".

my major problem is the ability to breath closely followed by navigating my local environment, just paying for healthcare is really a minor issue, let's face it, it's only money and you've either got it or you haven't

Some health issues - vision & heart problems/issues. But at the moment, having to cope with family issues - can't deal with them, 'cause the 'other side' won't, "play ball", at least, not fairly. So, took long way 'round that one, but finally at some place where I can say: "Let go and Let God..." He, (God), did drag me through a knot hole, backward. Learned a lot about myself though...;P

Health: HEREDITARY HEART ISSUES: I keep telling my children to be on top of their health no matter how fit and well they are. Both my parents had health issues which unfortunately took them at such a young age my dad was 45yrs when he passed and my baby brother passed at the age of 46yrs heart failure. Mum passed aged 56yrs heart failure. It's no surprise that my siblings and I have heart issues and some of my nieces/nephews and grandnephews/grandnieces also have heart problems so not fair.

The cost of living is so much these days and wait the politicians want to bring in a death tax.(I don't think it has been passed yet.) Unbelievable one last money grab before your body goes cold. What a world we live in.

The cost of healthcare is ridiculous and restrictive for most people over 65. I pay about a quarter of my aged pension per month and was told that knee surgery isn't covered, and if I went to a higher bracket and waited 12 months i could be covered. What's the use of heath-funds?

Yes, it can be very daunting, but found being on the full State penions is good value by getting free glasses every 2 years, free prescriptions after you've spent so much, free dental, etc....I'm getting my fair share of freebies. I did find that having private medical insurance overpriced

My number 1 issue is that my husband & I can continue to live together. He is 83 this year & I am 80. We each qualified for a care package which is of great value to us as it has enabled us to continue living together. The reason for the issue is that we would be separated & put into different nursing homes if we can't manage at home.

It would have to be my health also. I have heard that America's insurance is expensive. A program showed people from the U.S.A. travelling to a poor neighboring Country. They were assisted with their health issues for free.

Hello Walter W. That is a terrible set up in the USA. It seems to be a "set up" alright with nothing "right" about it! It seems to be an Insurance System favouring the Government not to have too many surviving aged people to take care of. Do they not realise that you can kill people with kindness as well??!!! In my life also there seems to be too many issues so would hate to single one out and upset all the rest!!! So am bundling them togerther and jus state that the Age Pension, if you are not an outright home owner, ie do not have a Mortgage is very dismal HOWEVER if you were in Private Rental you couldn't afford anything else. My Mortage will be paid off when I'm Ninety and I plan on sticking around for another 20years and collecting the Pension and start enjoying myself!!!

My concern is my health. Got sleep apnea and that throws me a bit even with a mask etc. my future concern is my age (73) and what lays ahead for my 2 grandkids. Grandson said last night he wants to be a policeman with a gun. I said Why. To protect you,Nanna,mummy, daddy,baby Tiffany ( sister). I said you going to get all the bad people in jail. Yes. I have several nephews and nieces in Philippines and I love them all. I want them to grow up and have a good life and not what most have there now.

My biggest issue is how the rich and poerful seem to flout any rukles and do what they like,take this Gishlaine Maxwell case,im very glad she was found guilty for what she done trafficking young girls for 30 years,where are the charges against the men that used those young girls,apart from prince andrew who seems to be the sacrificial lamb,there must be a long list of very rich and powerful abusers who will get no penalty

At the moment it is convincing those selfish people who still refuse to be vaccinated against Covid. If we are ever to get a hold on this disease or become immune we must all be vaccinated so at least we stand a chance of surviving. Millions of precious people have died and maybe they don't belong to the unvaccinated but they did belong to others who loved and mourn their passing. Too many millions of others now suffer life long health issues because they caught the disease. Most of those I know claim "God protects me" .Well who protected the thousands of Christians and other believers who died? Others claim their body is their property and yet stick strange chemicals and other suspicious mixtures into their arms and up their noses and eat so called 'natural foods which are so chemically modified in order to make them edible. I am vaccinated but even catching the milder version now circulating will affect me because I already have severe respiratory problems and had lung cancer surgery. I know the unvaccinated will give all their silly, selfish reasons and I won't bother reading them because my number one issue is to live to see 2023!

My main issue is finding someone to do all the things I can no longer do. I have social anxiety and even making a piece of toast causes me anxiety. I have had PTSD since my parents and sisters died. I have no partner or children. Being completely alone and also having health issues is a major concern. Fortunately, I had a government job that has given me a pension and benefits that I'm able to get along financially.

Money. - can buy everything... viz..... health, love, peace, thrills etc etc.

I work in healthcare. But healthcare in the USA is so expensive. And health insurance can and will deny certain things. My #1 issue is trying to get affordable healthcare for all. Regardless of income and insurance.

Goodness your health care sounds complicated and not very comforting if you become ill and in need of care. Here in Australia our health cover for pensioners offers subsidized medication, free dental, hearing and eye services. Blood tests and x-rays,CT Scans, MRI's etc. are also free as are operations and most all other services Sometimes the wait is short and other times a bit longer depending on the urgency and sometimes where you live.
