Grocery prices
Chris M 626341Apr 29, 23
Has anyone found any groceries that have NOT increased in price?
I have found two products - those frozen blocks of spinach and the 100 packs of home brand serviettes. Both still cost about $1 each.

Everything's going up. Amazon Prime have just emailed me to say that their annual membership is going up from $59 to $79. What to do?

Good find, I haven't found anything that did not increase in price. I try and find the cheapest prices because I can't afford to shop the way we use to.

I'd like to add to my comment from yesterday that prices go up but contents get smaller.... Some things that I do are try to buy everything when its on sale and buy 2 or 3. Watch the price tags; sometimes the Jumbo is on sale for less than the Family Size. Look at flyers and take them to a store that will price match so you can get everything in one place rather than driving all over the place. Get a points card for the store where you shop; I have PC Optimum and save $800+ every year since the card came out. Make a list and try to stick to it; don't buy junk food just because it looks good or is on sale. Put your dollars into good food so you feel healthier, and you won't be tempted by the junk. I really hope this helps some of you to take up the challenge that grocery shopping has become. God bless you all:)

Groceries here in Australia have all gone up or the packages are getting smaller.

I have noticed that our value brands go up 30 cents each product every few weeks . The only thing that I have noticed that has not gone up in price is the instant coffee I always buy.

Yes, Woolworths demineralized water is still $2.00 but Coles went from $1.80 to $2.00.

yes i see both rich men and homeless walking in the city it is crazy and again everything goes up. personally i am offended when some people say they do not want to see those people on the streets it is crazy and it is because everything went up. simple economics can be hard to grasp

It's funny because my ex as much as he was not a kind person taught me a few things even if he didn't mean to. He taught me to be frugal since he would never do anything to help support his family. I would suggest books or articles on how to save money. Buying in bulk is one way of saving for things you definitely use quite a bit of. Actually, I can't speak for any country but my own, I guess but if I am able to help anyone then my job is done! Start a garden, buy clothes that have already been used, unplug appliances you aren't using, make your own foods such as the one person suggested-Butter, peanut butter, nut milks, mustard and other condiments, sew your own clothes, make your own beauty products and makeup, laundry soap (which I still buy my own because I never found a recipe I liked for laundry soap or shampoo), deodorant, etc. Oooh, you can even make milk paint and stuff. I would recommend a book, but I can't remember name of it or the author. Go figure.

I don't know what the second thing you mentioned is at all. I don't go to the store anymore at all either. My boyfriend goes. I am guessing he doesn't see much of anything that hasn't raised in price. Shopping online I have noticed prices have stayed pretty high, but there are sales are certain things and if it's something we use a lot of I will definitely buy extra if I have a chance.

It’s getting ridiculous, the cost of living is souring just like our power bills, and our wages are still the same, and to top things off doctors are now not bulk billing, what’s next we pay for the air we breathe.

Trouble is Woolworths and Coles have the monopoly and keep giving excuses for prices increasing whilst their profits are soaring . We need more players, when you look at how many grocery chains the UK has in a much smaller country it is ridiculous

Just thought I would share what a friend showed me a few days ago. All you need is a blender and be able to spot a bottle of cream on special just before expire date is up. Pour a 600ml bottle into the blender mix for about ten minutes butter is made about 250g plus you get buttermilk to make pancakes. You separate the milk put the butter into a piece of muslin cloth wash it in a bowl of ice cold water. Rinse and squeeze until water is clear wrap and shape into a square there you have it butter at half the price . if you make to much freeze it.

We have only got Woollies or Coles larger supermarkets and as I live at the top of the country we seem to be the last stop for deliveries of produce/products and of course when the rains come it is the excuse that the roads are in flood or the cost of fuel has gone up therefore the price rise…we don’t have the luxury of Aldi or Cosco stores to be able to shop in bulk or the Dollar Family Store as we are a small town…we are lucky to have local markets for fruit & vegs…meat is still or biggest expense…but I would like to think that thank goodness we live in Australia and not in the war torn countries as that is doing it extremely hard and terrifying for anyone old or young…I say thank goodness we have only small things to worry about and not being bombed each day or night…

However, I have found grocery items at the same price as before at the Family Dollar Store. They aren't always the cheapest, but sometimes they are. Of course, the biggest cost is produce and meat which you can't get there. Aldi's is said to be cheaper, but their meat has been questionable. You may want to check out a local meat market for better prices and fresher meat.

Do you expect stores to pay for the extra electricity, gas & petrol prices and not put the charges on to you. All those prices have risen considerably. It's not just on food the prices have gone up. In Australia we have had floods & fires this year and it's happened in areas that grow our food. A lot of those people lost their homes and livelyhoods and months later still have nowhere to live. Learn to adapt to the situation and be thankful that you have somewhere to live and food on the table.

I think the main supermarkets are trying to get us to buy their home brands that are from overseas. I have been buying less at Coles and Woollies, and going to NQR but even they have raised their prices. There is so much of the vegan woke fake foods it isn't a joke. And "no sugar" items. I won't buy these.

I am on a Disability Support Pension and I have really tightened my belt these last 6 months or so but I always visit the Anglicare store in the town where I do my grocery shopping before I visit a store. For $12, it used to be $10, there is a range of items which you get to fill your bag with (basically the green material bag that Woolworths used to see for $1, which does fit a fair amount of food into). It changes most times I visit but it' always carries the staples like UHF milk in a carton, cereals, yesterday was either Just Right or Weetbix, tinned fruit, pasta, rice (yesterday it was Jasmine rice which is better for those who have a gluten sensitivity), biscuits and other snack items, bottles of ready to cook sauces like honey soy, satay etc and then those designed for use with pasta ( I got a large bottle of passata) and then some things more specific for families with young children like baby cereals, nappies, wipes etc. You usually end up with over $30 worth of products and as I know longer buy things like tinned fruit as it really isn't a "necessity", I appreciate the treat. Just putting it out there in case it helps someone. Thanks for reading.

Lots of things that are now on sale for half price are the same price they were before all the price rises. So I don't know how they can say inflation is only at 5-7 %.

I am making more soups like lentil to last for two or three meals. It is getting very challenging for everyone.
